Reasoning Technology
Role: Founder Website:
reasoningtechnology.com
Description:
Founded in 2009 to develop and commercialize novel AI systems,
originally with a focus on the legal-tech market. Current work
includes new chain-of-thought methods, alignment experiments, and
platform tools that explore how humans and AIs can reason together
more effectively.
Quicksilver Technologies
Role: Contributor Description:
Company was developing a 9 core heterogeneous multiprocessor. Wonderful
team, but they were very busy on other cores. I was left alone to design a
programmable radio front end processor from scratch.
Created a novel architecture that met performance by having two levels of
microcode, one to configure the arithmetic units to stream, and the
other to program the chip. Added Babbage like difference engines as
very capable address generators.
Wrote a cycle accurate model for the processor, wrote the test bench,
and wrote the assembler to generate the machine code for testing. The
head of the tools group, Andy Krumel, was nice enough to say that I
should not hesitate call myself a tool smith.
NetEffect
Role: Contributor Description:
Participated in the development of a TCP Offload Engine (TOE).
Designed and implemented a critically needed SystemC-based testing
tool that validated the simulation environment and enabled
full architectural bring-up.
21st Century Telephone
Role: Founder Description:
Founded a smartphone startup before the word “smartphone” was widely
used. Designed the Dragonfly, an advanced handheld
communications concept whose IP later seeded work with Intellectual
Ventures. The project explored early mobile UI, integrated
data/voice architectures, and social-media-like applications a
decade ahead of the mainstream.
Tempered Hardware and Software
Role: Founder Description:
Founded a VLSI design consultancy specializing in custom processors
and applied mathematics in microarchitecture. Delivered a major
contract for Chromatic Computers, including a complete processor
test bench and a comprehensive set of complex instruction
functions. During this work, developed a novel high-speed
arctangent algorithm, with C++ simulation and testing support
from Fred Tydeman.
